Rang and Tremain Enjoy Successful Id2 Camp

ORLANDO, Fl – 8 October 2014 –  Alex Rang and Noah Termain (Boys U13) recently returned from their trip to Taunton, Ma and US Club Soccer’s id2 National Identification and Development Program Training Camp.  The purpose of the camp is to offer a collection of recommended athletes a chance to receive high level training from select coaches and to demonstrate their skills to the id2 directors and coaches as well as scouts from US Soccer.  In addition to the boys getting the training and exposure, the id2 Program selects the top 18 players from four camps across the country and provides an opportunity for an International trip to play youth soccer clubs in another country.  The 2014 trip was to Italy.  The destination for the 2015 trip has not been announced.

The camp took place from Thursday, September 25 through Sunday, September 28. Throughout the weekend, players took part in on the field training sessions and scrimmages. The time off the field was spent at team meals, rest and meetings to discuss game strategy and review of film from other games.

Time was given for the boys to get to know each other and to make friends. Instagram ids, emails and phone numbers were shared for continued contract after the camp. The camp is free to the athletes and the primary sponsor (Nike) provides all the players with a complete kit for the entire weekend.

Out of 36 boys there were only 4 from Florida at this camp, 2 from Weston FC and Alex and Noah from FC America.  There were boys from all around the East Coast as well as  Alabama, Wisconsin, Illinois, with one from the state of Washington.  Having only 2 from Central Florida and from the same team says much about the coaching the boys have received while at FC America.

“This is a great thing for not only the club but especially Alex and Noah. Over our nearly 25 year history, we are notorious for sending players not only to the Regional Camps but also the final 18. We are excited for Alex and Noah to have this opportunity. We cannot wait to hear back from the staff to see if they are selected into the next phase,” said D.O.C Chris Mills

When asked about his experience, Tremain said, “I thought that it was a great learning experience for me and a very fun time. The level of skill was incredible and very fast paced. I’m sure that everybody there fully deserved it and they all enjoyed it just as much as I did.” Rang added, “ID2 was a great learning experience. It showed me that there is great competition out there, and that it’s important to continue to develop my skills and knowledge of the game.”

The announcement of which boys move on to the select team will not be made until the later part of December after the last camp is held out on the West Coast.  We are hoping that our boys will need to apply for a passport.
